MY STORY

Versatile- That may be the best word to describe singer, songwriter, producer Vince Hall - Simply because from a young age, he has always been able to adapt his soulful tenor/baritone voice to so many different musical genres-whether it’s Motown, R&B, Pop, Standards or even Country Soul, not only could he sing these different styles, he makes a song his own.

Originally from Fresno, CA and the youngest of four children, he vividly remembers rushing home from school to play old records collected by his older Sister Gwen. Vince couldn’t get enough of Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes and Martha and The Vandellas. Who wouldn’t become a great singer after singing along with all of these greats.

After seeing how mesmerized a seven year-old Vince was while watching a relative sing and play the organ during a summer family vacation in Los Angeles. His Mother Madora made sure that a starter organ would make it’s way under that year’s Christmas Tree. After years of being frustrated with not being able to learn songs by ear fast enough, he decided to

take piano lessons from a friend of the family named Jakki Bush-Wilson. As much as Vince loved playing the piano, singing was his ultimate passion. In fact, he was a member of local band called Phoenix. He

played keyboards and sung back-up vocals. This is where he sharpened his songwriting ability. He left the group after four years to focus more

on his singing. It wasn't long before Vince was one of Fresno’s most sought after wedding and special event vocalists. He even placed as one of five finalists in a contest to sing the National Anthem Accappella for several Fresno State Basketball games in front of a crowd of 10,000 screaming fans.

Vince even got local radio airplay of some of his original songs on an adult contemporary jazz station. This exposure led to being hired to write and sing an original jingle for the local Fresno Acura car dealership. This catchy jingle was part of a very successful radio/tv ad campaign that ran for 5 years.

As the Nineties approached, Vince set his sights on moving to Los Angeles to seriously pursue his music career. By the early 90’s he finally took that leap of faith along with the urging of his entertainment hairstylist cousin Mrs. Eddie Barron-Smith. She even allowed him to stay with her for a couple of months to get himself settled in.

With a lot of Prayer, determination and perseverance, he has had the opportunity to work with many of the world’s best studio and live musicians. He most recently released his third solo CD called “People Wake Up”. It’s an inspiring blend of old school R&B, Pop and Gospel. Vince teamed up with the multi-talented producer Eddie Hedges. The CD has been getting rave reviews.

His current project is with award-winning producer/pianist Kevin Toney and songwriter Joseph Sanchez- collectively known as Urban America - Featuring Vince Hall. Vince was thrilled to have been asked to be a part of this exciting project. He loves working with Kevin and Joe.

Another passion for Vince is “live” performing. When he’s not in the recording studio, he can be found touring with Doc Rock It - America’s Premier Dance Cover Band for big wedding receptions and corporate events. “There’s nothing like “live” performing - It’s such a rush to connect with an audience”, says Hall.

For the past seven years Vince has been a member of the Soldiers for The Second Coming of Christ. This is a Gospel Outreach group that includes its founders, legendary Grammy Award-winning duo Marilyn McCoo and

Billy Davis Jr., formerly of the Fifth Dimension.

Vince is also very interested in reaching out to anyone who has a dream. It doesn’t have to be about music. He likes encouraging people, especially young people, to follow their dreams because you never know how far they can take you. He’d like to do motivational speaking which could also incorporate his music during a presentation.

All in all, his dream he had as a young kid growing up in Fresno has more than come true. He’s very thankful to God for blessing him with the gift of music and getting the opportunity to work with so many gifted musicians. Vince loves living here in the southland with his Wife Yeti. He hopes to continue singing and creating great music for years to come.
